LAWRENCEVILLE — Twins Jim and Joe Rosa — Mercer County’s greatest distance runners ever — are back on the track together again.
Although they didn’t win the 3,200 meter race in the tri-meet, their West Windsor North team competed at Lavino Fieldhouse yesterday with WW-P South and Lawrenceville, the senior superstars put a smile on the faces of those who couldn’t wait to see them run again.
They were leading the 3,200 until teammate Casey Dalrymple moved between them and finished first in 10:02.3. The Rosas ran 10:03, but will be back here Saturday for the Lavino Relays.
Yesterday’s race reminded many of the 2009 Mercer Cross Country Meet when the Rosas led all the way, but moved over near the finish line to let teammate Jon S queri take first.
It was the first competitive race for Jim Rosa who has been sidelined since last summer with a stress fracture. Joe won the Mercer Cross Country Meet in October and was third in the Nike Nationals. Now the Stanford-bound twins are running alongside each other again.
