At the beginning of his sophomore year, Perez ran 17 minutes, 28 seconds to win the Freshman-Sophomore Meet, hosted by Santa Fe Catholic. Later that year against the regular varsity competition, Perez's time fell within the top six or seven runners in the county. "I'm not sure I was surprised," Perez said. "I've always liked running. I used to run back in elementary school back in P.E. I always felt I was good at running, but it wasn't actually until high school that I focused on it." Read the full article at: www.newschief.com
