Queensbury girls get at-large bid
Queensbury's girls cross country runners received an at-large bid on Sunday to complete in the Nike Cross Nationals on Dec. 5 in Portland, Ore. The Queensbury runners, competing as the Adirondack Runners, finished fourth in a regional competition on Saturday at Bowdoin Park. Danielle and Brittany Winslow of Queensbury had qualified for the Portland race as individuals based on their times in Saturday's meet, but will now run in the team competition. Kinetic Running Club, which is composed of Saratoga runners, earned an automotic bid to the national meet on Saturday. Adirondack Runners coach Bob Underwood said New York's strong reputation for cross country running probably helped them get the at-large bid. "I was happy for the girls," Underwood said. "We've had a lot of success this year, and beaten a couple of other teams that won other regions, so that helped." The Adirondack Runners were fifth in the national race last year.
