Appalachian State Running Camp, Boone, North Carolina
by Trevor Foley, Hernando HS

Just got back to Florida and the humidity is already killing me.

Running in Boone, NC, for a week was an amazing experience. I went up with my mom and friend/competitor Ryan.

The first day:

We checked into our dorms and then headed to a place called Green Way Trails. It's such a great place to run.   Mulch and dirt trails and then rock trails up a mountain. Can't beat that!

Then we headed to dinner and surprisingly the food was not half bad.  I went for seconds.

So the first official day of camp was Monday and we all woke up at 6:45 to run a few miles through campus.   It's such a beautiful campus the only thing though is there are hills and stairs on campus.  There's a lot of them.

We learned so much.  From the form drills, to nutrition, core exercises, and pool workouts.

A lot of stuff to get to that next level as Coach Curcio told us. Then throughout the week we ran at many different places such as Bass Lake and on the last day the Fire Tower Run.

The Fire Tower Run is a 5 mile trek up a mountain and then when you get to the top you climb a fire tower.

The picture of 3 guys side by side is all of us on top of the fire tower !

And last but not least,  my favorite thing of the whole camp was when we all did a Long Run (LR) and jumped in a creek to ice our legs.  Everyone had a blast!

I want to thank APP STATE for hosting the camp.  I had a blast and huge thanks to the great counselors!

Can't what till next year.
