by SteveU HHSAA State Meet – Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 HIGHLIGHTS GIRLS: Seabury Hall jr Dakota Grossman won her third consecutive title, this time running 20:21.85 and winning over Puanhou sisters Elli (senior) and Teri Brady (frosh), who clocked 20:30.80 and 20:37.60, respectively. Puanhou scored 42 for the victory, beating defending champsHawaii Prep (72) and taking their seventh title in eight years. It was also Puanhou’s 25th title since the girls’ state meet started in 1973. BOYS: Kamehameha-Kapalama jr Davis Kaahanui triumphed by more than 30 seconds with his 17:07.90, with Kauai High senior Joshua Herr winning a close battle for second with 17:38.15.Kamehameha-Kapalama won their 11th title in 16 years, and third in four years, in a close 4-way battle. They scored 83, followed by Puanhou’s 90, Iolani’s 94, and Leilehua’s 99 (defending champs). More news |
