6A Girls: The fastest and deepest state meet in Kansas State history saw Alli Cash of Shawnee Mission West defend her state title with a 14:02 romp over the Rimrock Farm 4k course, second only to her 13:59 course record at the Rimrock Farm Invitational in October. Olathe East won its third state title in four years, and fourth since 2006. East scored 89 points to runner-up Garden City‘s 101.

6A BoysShawnee Mission Northwest dominated in a highly anticipated matchup with Wichita North, winning 43-92 with four scorers in the top fifteen. Colton Donahue (Blue Valley-Stillwell) blistered a 15:22 5k to win by almost twenty seconds.

5A Girls: In a tremendous finish, Kaelyn Balch (Bishop Carroll, Wichita) defended her 5A crown against former 4A state champMorgan Wedekind (Valley Center), with both running 14:36. Wedekind held the lead into the final stretch, and dove at the line. It took ten minutes of close reading of the photo before the winner was announced. St. Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park) and Bishop Carroll (Wichita) were separated by one point after four runners, but superior depth won it for Aquinas, 50-58.

5A BoysCurtis Cline (Shawnee Mission South) pulled away over the Jim Ryun Skyline to win in 15:58. In a reversal of the girls race.Bishop Carroll (Wichita) edged St. Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park), 45-55, for the championship.

3A GirlsJordan Puvogel (Hiawatha) ran 15:30 and pulled away late from defending champ Emily Sechrist (Hillsboro) 15:35 to win. Douglass repeated as state champ with 76-94 win over Norton.

3A BoysCorey Donley (Sacred Heart, Salina) dominated the race, always in control and ran to a 16:03 victory. Trinity (Hutchinson), put three runners in the top ten to win with 75 points overScott City‘s 110.
