10 Things You Should Know About Stuyvesant High School’s Zovinar Khrimian

- Zovinar began her running career at 2013's Jim McKay Memorial with a second place finish in the freshman 1,000m.
- She finished her first indoor season as New York City’s fastest freshman female 1,000 meter runner.
- She was New York City’s fastest female representative during 2014’s New York Cross Country Federation Championships
- The Stuyvesant girls placed fifth at last year’s Cross Country City Championships, missing qualifying for New York Federation Championships by one spot. One of Zovinar’s biggest goals is to help her team make it to this year's Federation Championships.
- Individually, Zovinar is most looking forward to competing in this year’s NYC Mayor’s Cup Cross Country Championships, where athletes compete for the title of “Best in the City.”
- In addition to being a hard working student-athlete, Zovinar is also a community volunteer and writer and illustrator for her school’s award winning newspaper, The Spectator.
- She describes herself as a dedicated person, who takes advantage of the many opportunity’s her school and community present her.
- Zovinar is of Armenian decent and visited the West Asian country for the first time last summer.
- Despite the 40-minute commute, Zovinar and her Stuyvesant teammates regularly practice and compete at The Armory. They even consider it to be their home track and field facility.
- Most of Zovinar’s runs take place alongside the Hudson River, but Central Park is her favorite place to log miles.
