LISLE, IL—Two of the top high school milers in the Midwest have entered the U.S. Army Midwest Distance Classic on Saturday, June 13, at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL according to meet director, Skip Stolley.

Audrey Belf, a 2015 graduate of Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan is one of the most-decorated distance runners in Michigan prep history, with two state cross country titles, three state indoor 3200m titles, and two state outdoor 3200m titles.  In addition, she is the defending USATF 5000 meter Junior National Champion (16:29.68) and a 7-time high school All-American.

This spring Audrey ran a 4:44.56 mile—the 7th best prep time in America this spring—and has a 2-mile best of 10:11.24 from 2014.  She has signed a scholarship offer to attend Georgetown University next fall and hopes to better the current 2015 U.S. high school 1600m best of 4:42.41 at the Army Distance Classic.

Pavlo Hutsalyuk, a 2015 graduate of Lane Tech, won the Illinois state title in the 1600 meters last weekend in 4:08.19—the 7th fastest prep time in the country.

Pavlo was a 2014 high school All-American in the 4x 800m relay, where he ran a 1:49.9 split, and was the 2015 Chicago Public League champion at 800 meters.

Hutsalyuk, who is of Ukrainian descent, knew hardly any English when he moved to the U.S. eight years ago.  Remarkably, he scored 30 on his ACT test last fall before signing a scholarship to attend the University of Iowa,  where he plans to major in business.
