1A Boys Rankings
By: Mark Caulfield, Circle Christian School, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: There are some things in life and cross country that you can conistently count on; it will be hot in August, and Holy Trinity will win another boys 1A title in November. With their complete team returning from last years State Championship and a number of young runners pushing for a varsity spot, the Tigers just keep rolling. Look for Coach Butler to have them ready for their fourth title in a row. After that, the "other podium spot" appears wide open with a number of contenders returning strong teams from last year. The Geneva School and Shorecrest Prep each return 6 from last year 3rd and 4th state finish and 2013 runners up, Maclay, consistently fights for a podium spot and seems to bring out their best in November. A number of other teams seem poised to make a big jump this year and compete for a top 10 finish. Good luck to all the Boys Class 1A teams this year!

Team Name, Region (Prev.) Comments:
1. Holy Trinity Academy (NR) Returning the entire team from last years State Championship makes HTA a near "lock" for 2014. Opening up at home showing some excellent early season fitness and a close second place finish at the Astronaut Invitational reveals Coach Butler's Tigers are focused, improved and ready to defend.
2. The Geneva School (NR) Despite a slow start at the Trinity Prep Meet, this team has plenty of talent and returns 6 of 7 from last years 4th place State finishing team. Strong up front at 1 and 2 and experience through their top 6 keeps them at the front for a potential podium finish.
3. Shorecrest Prep (NR) While not having opended up their season just yet, with 6 of 7 returners from last years 3rd place State team, would certainly position them near the front of the pack in any Pre-season poll.
4. Maclay School (NR) History consistently proves that Maclay will be a state contender when it counts. Despite losing 4 of their top 7 from last years runner-up team, Coach Droze will find a way to reload, get them ready, and put them in a position for a podium run. Count on it!
5. Westminster Academy (NR) A healthy returning roster from last years 7th place state team and a good opening showing at the TKA Lions invitational puts them in the top 5 to start the season.
6. Pensacola Christian Acad. (NR) Reloading after graduating their number 1 and 2 runners from last years 8th place state finisher, these Warriors opened strong with a tight 50 second spread for 1-5 at the Wildcat Invitational.
7. Westminster Christian (NR) Returning their entire team from last years 14th place finish at the State Championships, this team has the experience and a tight 1-6 spread to contend for a top 10 State Finish this season.
8. Father Lopez (NR) Opening up the season at Spikes and Spurs with a nice 18:34 team average. Coach O'Malley has been quietly building up the program through the last few seasons and this could be the year they burst into the Top 10.
9. Indian Rocks Christian (NR) IRC returns a strong middle pack from last years 5th place State team and added a couple of promising young runners at their first meet at Holloway positioning themselves for an early season top pick.
10. Circle Chrisian School (NR) While losing 4 from their 12th place 2013 State Team, this young group shows potential with a good summer and some rising newcomers. Look for them to come along as the season progresses.

Teams To Watch:

Brevard Heat (NR) A good returning team looking to round into shape in the early season.

Evangelical Christian (NR) Strong returning group that was missing a few at their opening meet. Keep watch.

John Carroll High School (NR) Another strong returning team that was missing some at their first meet. Keep watch.

Melbourne Central Catholic (NR) A tight 30 second pack and good showing at Astronaut Invitational.

P.K. Younge School (NR) Strong 1-3 but will need improvement at 4-5 to crack the top 10.

Seffner Christian Academy (NR) Consistently good each year with strong returners and some promising young newcomers.

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: With 7 of the top 10 finishers at last years State Cross Country Championships returning, this year could shape up to be a classic season. Also, last year 6 athletes broke the 16:00 barrier which was the most for any single year in Class 1A. How many will mange to go under that this year? And who will be the suprises? Last year Franco Martins from Windermere Prep was the big surpise and took home a big win in Tallahassee at the State Championship. He validated that win in strong fashion during the track season dominating the 1600m and 3200m with wins at the State Meet. Martins returns again this season to defend his title but a number of others are ready to make a run at him. Topping that list is Senior Andrew Cacciatore who opens up number 1 in our rankings thanks to his two impressive opening perfmances. He is closely followed by teammate Trevor Kattenberg who has come charging out of the gate in the early season. Others may close in as the season progresses but those three have thrown down the gauntlet. Should be an exciting season and good luck to all of the Class 1A athletes for an outstanding season!

Athlete Name, Grade – Team (Prev.) Time, Comments:
1. Andrew Cacciatore, Senior - Holy Trinity (NR) Coming off a big summer and opening up the season with impressive 15:50 and 15:58 clockings shows Cacciatore is primed for a big season. Coach Butler usually has his Seniors ready for a huge final year and Andrew seems poised to follow that rich tradition.
2. Trevor Kattenberg, Sophomore - Holy Trinity (NR) Posting two sub 16:00 efforts (15:52 and 15:59) to begin the early season has this Sophmore sensation ready to go big. Big time talent!
3. Franco Martins, Senior - Windermere Prep (NR) The defending 2013 Class 1A CC Champion and 1600m / 3200m Track Champ opened up the season a little dinged from a late summer stress reaction. But as he gets healthy, this champ is very tough to beat.
4. Nicholas Gonzalez, Senior - The Geneva School (NR) A 7th place at the 2013 State CC finish and the 3rd fastest returning 3200m (9:37) has Nicholas looking to make the next big leap. Talented and hard working Senior who could join the elite three for battle.
5. Cal Davidson Turner, Senior - Cardinal Mooney High School. (NR) Ran 16:38 finishing in 8th place at the State Meet last fall followed by a 9:49 / 4:30 Track season. Opened up this season with a 16:59 fifth place finish at the Holloway Park Jamboree.
6. Luke Peterson, Junior - Shorecrest Prep (NR) Finished 9th in last years State CC Championship with a 16:24 PR followed by a 5th place finish in the State 1600m. Opens up this week at Indian Rocks Invitational .
7. Noah Perkins, Junior - Seffner Christian (NR) Opened up this season with an impressive 16:41 clocking for 2nd at the Wireglass Run with the Bulls. Talented, healthy and ready to step up.
8. Egan Kattenberg, Sophomore - Holy Trinity (NR) Ran a 16:45 (Wickham Park) and 16:46 (Astronaut Invitational) to begin the 2014 season with a bang. Could be the start of something big!
9. Micah Kemp, Senior - Jay High School (NR) Ran 16:19 in winning the 2014 Washington Wildcat Invitational. Looking to improve upon last years 20th place finish at the State Cross Country Meet.
10. Tucker Hindle, Junior - Boca Raton Christian (NR) Ran 16:44 at the 2014 season opening Martin County Under the Lights to finish 8th. In track ran 10:03 in finishing 10th at the State Meet.

Early Watch List:

Isak Davis, Senior - The Geneva School (NR) Tenth place finisher at the 2013 State Cross Country Meet last season and has a 16:12 PR. Opened up the season at 17:49 at Trinity prep.

Casey McCracken, Senior - Westminster Academy (NR) Finished 22nd in last years CC State Meet and opened up this season with a 16:59 finish at the TKA Lions Invitational.

Patrick McNamara, Senior - Admiral Faragut Academy (NR) Last year ran 16:25 in cross and finished 21st in last years State Meet followed by a 9:56 3200m in Track.

Chase Hyland, Sophomore, The Pine School (NR) Ran 16:49 at the 2014 season opening Martin County Under the Lights to finish 10th.

Michael Wilson, Sophomore - Holy Trinity (NR) Finished 16th at the 2013 State Cross Country Championships and opened up this year with a 17:16 finish at the Wickham Park Jamboree.

2A Girls Rankings
By: Mike Becker, Ransom Everglades, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: This preview was written before first meet. Bolles might be the best team in any class, and Pine Crest has the potential if everything goes perfectly to match them thru 5. But they will have to be perfect at the right time, cause Bolles is so so deep. Ransom and Carrollton can expect a half dozen or so toe to toe battles again. It is fitting that school are located within walking distance in Miami. After those 4, is a conglomeration of teams that will be showing their hands soon. There will likely be a surprise, but who?

Team Name (Prev.) Comments:
1. Bolles (NR) As deep as any team in any class. Too bad, Florida has 4 classes, Bolles might be the best in entire state….
2. Pine Crest (NR) Not as deep as Bolles, but neck and neck thru 3 runners… maybe even ahead
3a Ransom Evereglades (NR) Ransom campus 500 meters from Carrollton, so its natural they are 3A and 3B
3b Carrollton (NR) Ditto… they always come thru at state
5. Lake Highland Prep (NR) Returning much of young team - solid up front as well
6. Cardinal Gibbons (NR)
7. West Florida Tech (NR)
8. Academy of Holy Names (NR)
9. Bishop Kenny (NR)
10. Lemon Bay (NR)
11. Eastside (NR)
12. Rockledge (NR)
13. Trinity Prep (NR)

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: Top ten individuals is almost a dual meet. Expect a memorable battle between Wilson and Montgomery, but don't count out Yared just yet. Rogers left Jackson to her third high school in three years. This list will become deeper soon. I have been informed that both Bolles and Pine Crest have stellar additions that did not run varsity xc last year.

Athlete Name – Team (Prev.) Time, Comments:
1. Julia Montgomery - Pine Crest (NR) two time defending state champion will be pushed this year
2. Mackenzie Wilson - Bolles (NR) has proven she is one of few who can defeat Montgomery at her best
3. Yared Tsion- Pine Crest (NR) the question here is above improvement, cause with enough improvement can challenge for gold
4. Lauren Archer- Ransom Everglades (NR) after a stellar track season may be ready to trasnlate to 5K
5. Ali Hajda- Bolles (NR) 7th last year
6. Rachel Shapiro - Bolles (NR) 10th last year
7. Suzanne Danheim - Bolles (NR) 12th last year
8. Katherine Jovanovik- Pine Crest (NR) 13th last year
9. Michaela Ashley- Arnold (NR) 15th last year
10. Abigail Weinfled - Lemon Bay (NR) 16th last year, ran great in 2012

Be on the lookout:

Sofia Fernandez- St Brendans (NR) great track season

Nicole Mis- Lemon Bay (NR) 2:16, 5:02 in track but only 22:57 first meet?

Kaysi Roberts- West Florida Tech (NR)

Michaela Ashley -Arnold (NR)

Anita Munoz - Immokalee (NR) State runner up in track 3200 yet only opened with 22:47

Beatriz - Ruan Ransom (NR) yet to complete first race 12:29 3200 in track

2A Boys Rankings
By: Bryan Garcia, Tampa Plant HS, [email protected]
Team Rankings:

Team Name, Region (Prev.) Comments:
1. Trinity Prep, Region 2 (1) 17:13 team average at their home meet this past weekend for the win. Coming off of their first year in 2A, TP looks to go for another state championship in year 2.
2. Pine Crest, Region 4 (2) Also averaged 17:13 this past weekend as a team at Martin County. We all know how strong TP is, but looking closely at this these teams could be seperated by a few points in November
3. Pensacola Catholic, Region 1 (3) Boasting the fastest team average in 2A thus far in 17:12 at the Washington Invite. With the early season victory, this team is a dark horse to steal a state championship in the fall.
4. McKeel Academy, Region 3 (4) Averaged 17:50 at Lake Region Invite with a first place finish. This team snuck into 5th place last year and will look to do the same in 2014 as they return almost everyone.
5. Bishop Kenny, Region 1 (5) 17:46 team average at Wickham Park to start the season (3rd). After finishing last year as runner-up in 2A, they lost 3 of their top 5 but are still poised at a top 5 finish in November.
6. Titusville, Region 4 (6) Following a 17:54 average at Astronaut Invite (7th) and led by the fastest individual time in 2A so far, Titusville looks to amerge from a stacked Region 4 and make a top 5 run in the state.
7. Rockledge, Region 4 (7) Runner-up at 110% Invite with a 17:57 average. This team is a sleeper to be a top 5 pick, but watch out for them later in the season.
8. West Florida Tech, Region 1 (8) Averaged 17:55 at the Washington Invite where they placed 4th. This team was finished 19th last year at states, but looks to make a top 10 run this fall.
9. Pedro Menendez, Region 1 (9) Team average of 18:06 at the Spikes and Spurs Invite (10th). The crazy thing about this top 10 team is that they did not make it to the state meet in 2013. They have kicked 2014 off in the right direction
10. Lake Highland Prep, Region 2 (10) Averaged 18:10 at the Astronaut Invite (9th). This team finished 10th in 2013 and is in the same shape for 2014.
11. Ranson Everglades, Region 4 (NR) Coming off an 18:15 team average at the TKA Lions Invite where they were runner-up, Ransom looks ready to make a run at top 10 in the state after a 16th place finish last fall.
12. Gulf, Region 2 (NR) Averaging 18:23 at Run with the Bulls Invite, Gulf placed 4th overall. They finished 18th in 2013 and have a top 15 team in the state this year.
13. Tampa Jesuit, Region 3 (NR) They have not run a meet yet in 2014. This team lost the majority of it's top 7 and will rely on new head coach Peter Flores and some new faces for a top 15 finish in November.
14. Bolles, Region 1 (NR) Had an 18:17 team average at 110% Invite placing 3rd. Just 23 points back from Rockledge, this team looked good and even a bit dangerous to the rest of their classification.
15. Satelitte, Region 4 (NR) Had an 18:04 team average at Wickham Park (4th), but then had an 18:38 team average at Astronaut Invite (14th). In the most stacked region in 2A with 5 teams ranked in the top 15, Satellite has to find it's identity before it stumbles in November.

3A Girls Rankings
By: John Stevenson, Sarasota HS, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: I learned from my father that in sports a champion is still champion until they get beaten. Estero is a 4 time state champion and deserves the respect of being state champion. Sure the Cats graduated three seniors but they always find a way to replace holes. This classification will be a dog fight when November comes with many teams vying for podium finish. A lot of questions will be answered in coming weeks with many teams searching for a reliable 4th or 5th runner to sew up their scoring team.

Team Name, Region (State) Comments:
1. Estero, 3 (1) 4 straight state titles deserves to remain on top. Even though they lost three excellent runners from graduation, Coach Sommers always knows how to reload. Estero is led by junior Daley Cline who is coming off a great track season by finishing on the podium at 3A state track finals in the 1600. Estero added junior Olivia Adams, junior Breeana Salcedo from Cypress Lake and sophomore Megan Giovanniello from Ida Baker.
2. Sarasota, 3 (2) 3A state runners up last year and returns all but one of their top 8 from last year. The Lady Sailors will be led by senior Angelina Grebe and two sophomores – Sage Lyons and Mackenzie Brown. Mackenzie had a terrific freshman track season with a 5:16 for the 1600. Look for incoming freshman Hadleigh Schwartz to make an impact down the stretch.
3. Seabreeze, 2 (3) Finished right behind Sarasota at states last year and probably had the most surprising season. Just like Sarasota, they only lost one runner from last year. The Sandcrabs will be on everyone’s radar this year.
4. Creekside, 1 (4) Fanastic showing at UNF by giving Bolles a run for their money. Looks like they are eyeing a great season. One of the more consist top 10 teams with a split of almost 80 seconds based on last year’s season best. Only Sarasota and Ft. Myers boast a better split. If they are eyeing a podium finish, their top 3 are going to have to penetrate other team’s top dogs.
5. Fort Walton Beach, 1 (5) Anytime you have a powerhouse runner like Emma Rudman to lead and push a team, you are going to have a top 5 team. Emma looks to improve on her top 5 finish from last year, where she placed 4th. FWB is a solid top 5 team and will need their back end to get them on the podium in November.
6. Ocala Vanguard, 2 (9) Ocala is very similar to FWB with questions in the back end, but they have two studs in Audrey Carpenter and Elizabeth Mulford. Look for both ladies to perform better at the state meet.
7. Lakewood Ranch, 3 (14) They are going to need a fill the hole of Michelle Last’s leadership and consistency. They are a very young team with a plethora of young, fast girls.
8. Leon, 1 (NR) The two Dogan sisters of Leon lead a young Lions team with their top 6 from 2013 all returning. Plenty of potential.
9. Pace, 1 (10) Always a top tier program with three Kling sisters in their top 5. Senior Rachel Kling with be looking for an individual top 5 finish, which will boast their team finish. Pace rounds out four teams from Region 1 in top 10 rankings.
10. Fort Myers, 3 (7) The post Emily Edwards begins for Ft. Myers. I’m looking for a big year from the Green Wave of Ft. Myers. They are young and motivated. I see them as a top 5 team coming into November.
11. Niceville, 1 (13)
12. Merrit Island, 4 (11)
13. Chiles, 1 (NR)
14. Naples, 3 (NR)
15. Columbia, 1 (NR)

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: I took into consideration 2013 PR, state meet finish, 2014 3200 m and 1600 m times. There will be a new state individual champion since the top 3 from last year's state meet graduated. On paper, the individual title looks like its newly transfer Julie Wollrath's to claim. Emma Rudman of Fort Walton Beach will be on her tail. Rudman had one of the best track seasons of all ladies across the state. Look for Estero's Daley Cline, Sarasota's Angelina Grebe, and Barron Collier's Devin Molloy to track down the top ladies. After a few weeks, rankings will be clearer. As always in 3A, there will be someone coming out of now where to challange for podium spot.

1. Julie Wollrath, 12, Melbourne (NR) 18:11, 18:14; Julie transfers from Holy Trinity to Melbourne. Took a break from track in the 2014 spring, but might be reengerized by the switch to 3A competition.

14. Breeana Salcedo, 11, Estero (NR) 18:53, 19:08; Transferred from Cypress Lake. Made it regionals in the 800 and 1600 in 3A-3.
15. Alyssa Bayliff, 12, Seabreeze (NR) 19:08, 19:08; Great track season. Made it to states in the 1600 and 3200. Solid 5:17 in the 1600.
16. Alexandra Wallace, 11, Chiles (NR) 19:08, 19:08; Ran 12:34 at FSU relays in the 3200
17. Sage Lyons, 10, Sarasota (NR) 18:51, 19:37; Sub 12 minutes for 3200 for track. Look to be pushed by teammate Angelina and Mackenzie Brown

3A Boys Rankings
By: Ryan Lowe, Lake Nona HS, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: Early in the season, I was looking at a combination of team average and the 1-5 split. It looks like the battle at the top will be fun as Chiles attempts to knock-off the champs from Belen.

Team Name, Region (Prev.) Comments:
1. Chiles, R1 (NR) 16:51 team average and a nice 1-5 split of only 18 seconds. If this pack continues to lower their time then watch out.
2. Belen, R4 (NR) Defending champions always come through when it counts.
3. Bartram Trail, R1 (NR) Lowest team average early on with a 37 second split; if they keep this up, then they will be a serious contender.
4. Leon, R1 (NR) Having the number one runner always helps the team score.
5. Ocala Vanguard, R2 (NR) A freshman is leading this team right into the top 5.
6. Creekside, R1 (NR) 17:01 team average
7. Pace, R1 (NR) top 7 in this poll but the 5th best team in the region.
8. Fort Walton Beach, R1 (NR) Two runners in the top 15 will help guide this team through the early part of the season.
9. Robinson, R3 (NR)
10. Matanzas, R2 (NR)
11. Melbourne, R4 (NR)
12. Choctawhatchee, R1 (NR)
13. Gainesville, R2 (NR)
14. Gulf Breeze, R1 (NR)
15. Osceola (Seminole), R3 (NR)

Individual Rankings:
Commentary: Not much has changed this early in the season except for the freshman from Vanguard. I expect there to be a lot of moving and shaking in the polls over the next few weekends.

4A Girls Rankings
By: Ryan Raposo, John A. Ferguson HS, [email protected]
Team Rankings:
Commentary: In piecing together these pre-season rankings I primarily looked at the same things I look at every year, which includes: 1) last year's state results [minus seniors], 2) returning team's depth, 3) track & field prowess, and 4) other miscellaneous things such as transfers, athletes returning from injury, or incoming freshmen. Most of this will play off of 2013 returners, not early 2014 results (much of the south teams ran really slow courses compared to up north), so don't pay too much attention to the team rankings as of now, because as competitions really get rolling, it'll all change before you know it!

Team Name, Region (Prev.) Comments:
1. Winter Park, 1 (2) On paper the Wildcats are ranked #7, but between a killer track season like always (best 1600m team in the state for all classifications two-years running), the pick-up of Jenkins (who transferred from Michigan during track), and the addition of Gibbons (MS State Champ), this top five is the best in the state hands down.
2. St. Thomas Aquinas, 4 (1) Although not yet dethroned, and arguably returning the best top 3 in the state, the Raiders are without a doubt a podium team and will contend for their third consecutive state championship. If WP slips at all like last year, the back-to-back queens of 4A will do it again.
3. Lake Mary, 1 (10) While the 2013 returning rankings had them not making it out of the region of death, the Rams blew up at their opening season meet running a 20:40 team average and showing some nice PRs and top 5 strength.
4. Olympia, 1 (18) Although not an amazing first week, Olympia is the current #3 returning team for 4A, and unless I don't see improvements over the next couple of weeks, the rankings will stick because I know these Titans have the talent to remain as a top 3 team.
5. Lourdes Academy, 4 (4) Maybe I'm underrating these Bobcats, and although Lourdes is a traditional powerhouse year in and year out and they always bring their A game during the state series, this year looks to be a little more competitive that last year, so they have their work cut out ahead of them. A sub 19 transfer from 2A, Farnesi, will add much depth to their top 5.
6. North Port, 2 (5) Coming off a tremendous year in XC and TF, I expect a lot of good things out of these Bobcats. I believe Coach Simpson had four freshmen girls under 5:40 in the 1600m, which is amazing. So this is another team that has a shot at being top 3 in the state regardless of whatever the week 1 results say. We'll be seeing you on the east coast soon!
7. Coral Reef, 4 (7) Not only did the Barracudas have a breakout year finishing top 10 last year, they return most of their varsity and picked up a strong freshman, Vergara, who is currently running as their #1. Once their returning #1 gets healthier, they'll be right back in the mix as a top 5-10 team.
8. West Orange, 1 (NR) With a strong returning group, and the addition of freshman Hannah, these Warriors should be a solid top ten team all year long. They're currently listed as the #9 team in 4A for 2014, except that's without their top returning 1-2 from last year. They should be making a lot of noise when their full line-up comes together.
9. George Jenkins, 2 (12) These Eagles are listed as the #8 returning team from 2013 and are currently ranked 10th for 2014, even without one of their top five. Their opening season times are good, but a strong push from many Region 1 teams are making their case to try and push them out of the top 10!

Top Ten: As of right now, the final top ten slot, as well as #11 is a tight battle between the five Region 1 teams listed below. They all had a fast opening week for 2014, and look to be strong for this season. But the reality is that only two of these teams can make it out (as four teams from Region 1 are already listed above), so it's going to be a shootout like always.
T10. Timber Creek, 1 (NR) Listed as the #11 returning team, the Wolves have picked up right where they left off. Unfortunately for them, that's right in front of a strong Region 1 pack so the bullseye is currently on their backs!
T10. Winter Springs, 1 (NR) The Bears look to be returning their entire 2013 team and have started off the right way for 2014. While looking solid to be that last team to make it out of Region 1, this will change from week to week as these teams are so competitive.
T10. Dr. Phillips, 1 (NR) The Panthers are on the rise as this program gets back into the swing of things now that there is coaching knowledge and stability. After a good track season, this squad definitely has top ten potential.
T10. Mandarin, 1 (11) On paper from 2013, the Mustangs are your returning #10 team. They have the ability to get it done this year after missing it by one slot last year, but in Region 1, nothing is ever that easy!
T10. Flagler Palm Coast, 1 (NR) The Bulldogs had a fast opening meet for 2014 and their performances put them right in the mix with many other Region 1 teams to be contending to be a top ten squad. If they keep things up, expect a great finish come November.
T10. Lake Brantley, 1 (NR) Although the returning #9 team from 2013, with except to Sinclaire Johnson who destroyed week 1, the rest of their squad did not perform very well. Unless they can work on that 2-4 pack, the Region of Death will eat them up in 2014.

Top Fifteen Hopefuls: Behind that strong Region 1 pack is a number of teams hoping to crack the top 10. As of now it doesn't look like it's going to be easy, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. Work hard ladies!
12. Vero Beach, 3 (22) Currently ranked #8 for 2014, they started off in a big way compared to their 2013 returning ranking thanks to the addition of the Gumpel sisters. Look for the Fighting Indians this season.
13. John A. Ferguson, 4 (3) By far the team hit hardest with graduation, the Falcons lsot five of their top 7 from their near podium finish last year. If they want a shot at top ten, they need to keep working hard as a group.
14. Sarasota Riverview, 2 (9) Although ranked 22nd on paper from last year, the Ram are currently listed as top 15 for 2014. Like always, they're a top 15 team with contention for top ten honors.
15. Wellington, 3 (NR) Off to a great start for 2014, the Wolverines are currently listed as the #13 team in the state, although there are a few squads who are listed ahead of them who haven't quit run their A-game yet.
16. Dwyer, 3 (23) Same as with Wellington, although these Panthers have started off 2014 succesfully, they're in one of those tricky ranking positions where so many teams are easily interchangeable.

Be on the lookout:

Martin County, 3 (NR)

Douglas, 3 (21)

Wharton, 2 (NR)

Sickles, 2 (NR)

St. Cloud, 2 (NR)

4A Boys Rankings
By: Jorge Fleitas, Dr. Phillips HS, [email protected]
Team Rankings:

Team Name, Region (Prev.) Comments:
1. Lyman, Region 1 (3) Lyman took care of business and looked fantastic doing it at Astronaut. The 1-Armstrong, 2 Jacques, 3 Bell punch makes Lyman the best team in 4A.
2. Lake Mary, Region 1 (2) The Rams are the most balanced team in 4A. The Rams have Degale and Aman that should crack into the top 10 at states. Plus on paper the best #5 in 4A.
3. HB Plant, Region 2 (18) Watch Out! Guyton has inspired his team. Plant had a 2 sec spread between Leverone,Collura, and Markowski. If Guyton picks up the W in 2014, his team might just have a shot at the title.
4. Winter Park, Region 1 (1) The Park Pack did not look the same this opening weekend but a couple of injuries has the Wildcats tranquilized for now. Don’t count out the Park in 2014 they are led by Strange and the Boucher brothers.
5. St. Thomas, Region 4 (9) Who? Really? How? Well Aquinas brings back Statham a top 15 finisher and a lot of potential on his team including Dominguez, Adriano, Breslin and its #5 little Statham that already ran 17:36.
6. Columbus, Region 4 (4) The Hellions only drop one spot this week without because we didn’t see Aguirre, Gonzalez, and J Areces at King of the Hill
7. Spanish River Region 3 (NR) Martin County under the lights shined bright for Spanish River a NR team has jumped to the top 10 in 4A.
8. Coral Reef, Region 4 (5) A 1-2 punch with the support of Moultrie, and Cameron Berryhill make this team scary. If Reef finds a #5 they should take the title.
9. Sunset, Region 4 (7) The Knights are king of the hill in Miami! Can they be King of the state in 2014? I think the Knights are outside looking in for the Title, but should end up as a top ten finisher in November.
10. Dr. Phillips, Region 1 (14) The D.P. 7 are here to stay in 2014! D'haiti looks stronger than ever, and the freshmen Ortiz and Ivey have lived up to the hype. This team can take a stab at the title in 2014 if they find a #5.
11. Flagler Palm Coast, Region 1 (10) FPC currently has the best #7 in 4A. This young squad may be a dark horse in 2014.
12. Mandarin, Region 1 (6) The Mustangs had a great debut at Spikes and Spurs led by Trenton Liberty. Mandarin should make a move to finish in the top 10 in 2014.
13. George M. Steinbrenner, Region 2 (NR) Keep your eyes out for GMS in 2014.The 1min spread 1-5 might be enough for them to finish top 10 in 2014.
14. Ferguson, Region 4 (13) The Falcons almost edged out the Knights at King of the Hill. These birds need a pair of front runners if they want to crack into the top 10 in 2014.
15. Colonial, Region 1 (12) Led by Ortiz and Arroyo colonial should sneak into the top 10 in 2014.
16. Douglas, Region 3 (NR)
17. John I Leonard, Region 3 (NR)
18. Boone, Region 1 (19)
19. Olympia, Region 1 (11)
20. Lake Howell, Region 1 (NR)
