Liverpool sure showed up - sub-16:30 average at Bowdoin is definitely good.

Looks like a lot of the big guns skipped this meet.

Freshman Jessica Lawson of Corning takes it in 18:16. She won the Girls Class B race last week.

Brian Cook of Pearl River ran 15:45.2 and Liverpool won the team title with 75 points. Liverpool ran four individuals but the state meet but didn't not qualify as a team because it was second to F-M.

Cook was third in the Class B race last week but came back to beat one of the guys (T.J. Hornberger and Ryan Udavadia) who got him last week. Udavadia was was 10th and Hornberger was not in it.

From what I remember when it was explained to me a few years ago, they invite the top X from the CHSAA, top X from the PSAL, top X from the public D race, top X from the public C race, etc. PLUS the next 10 best teams overall whether or not they made it to the public state meet (or CHSAA, or whatever other meet). At any rate, it's a meet that is supposed to bring together all the best teams in the state regardless of what classification or association they compete in - essentially, it was NXN-NY before it's time (and has more teams compete than NXN-NY, although the boys got close last year with 25 teams/224 individuals to Feds' 28/255). Plenty of teams still go, but some big names don't now that NXN-NY is around... understandably, teams don't want to travel across the state and race hard an extra week if they don't need to. I thought there might be a chance that changed this year with the extra week between Feds and NXN-NY, but apparently not - FM still skipped it, and it looks like others did as well.

Girls results are up already - John Jay River Cross River edged Saratoga by 1 point, with Queensbury not far behind. Times weren't fast, but maybe it wasn't good conditions? Although weather reports are showing barely any rain this week, no wind and temperatures only in the upper 50's during race time...

How is eligibity determined for this meet. Are all the schools that competed in the recent state members? Sense that PSAL and Catholic High Shools will be ther. Will Northport, F-M, Bronxville, SSprings etc. run to make it a true state championship.
