On Tuesday morning when Michael Pope arrived at his classroom at North, he spent time looking at the team pictures for the cross country teams he’s coached since 2006. He laughed to himself at those first few years when the program was in shambles and numbers were low. Those kids couldn’t possibly know they would be the foundation of what would come. Now Pope will always smile when he looks at the 2012 team picture after the Redskins won the City League meet on Monday for the first time since 1967, ending the reign of Bishop Carroll.
