Estero runner makes huge impact

Inch for inch, Katy Gladis Solis just might be the best cross country runner in the state.


At 4-foot-9, the Estero High School sophomore placed second at last week's Region 2A-3 meet. She finished behind her teammate Kacy Smith and just in front of another teammate Maria Frank.

Solis might be the smallest person on the Wildcats team, but she's hoping to make a huge impact at the Class 2A state meet in Dade City Saturday. Estero's girls, ranked No. 1 in their classification, are favored to win.
