2A Boys at States may very well be the most competitive of all the classes when you consider you have Trinity Prep, Labelle, Satellite, Immokalee, Bishop Kenny, Pine Crest, Bolles and others.

Labelle averaged 16:59 with a 39 spread from 1-5. Labellie is currently ranked 2nd in 2A. Coach Frost's plan was to pack it up as usual and keep the group together through 2 miles. The goal was a 10 second spread and to have the top 5 under 17 flat.

Last week at FSU, Trinity Prep's Kayamo Galloway was 25th overall in the Boys Elite race going 16:06. He was also Trinity Prep's 4th man at FSU. Trinity Prep's depth is quite remarkable right now and Kayamo Galloway is a super-star in our midst. Miami Elite's pack running was the difference as their 4th and 5th boys were both in the top 25 for scoring.

Beast Division (Coed Open Race 5K) This race featured the fastest 5K boys time of the meet and new FL#1 by Brandon Marquez going 15:15.20. 6th Grader, Houston's Camille Napier scorched the course with the third fastest 5K regardless of Division going 19:15.10.

1 #5019 Napier, Camille W6 Unattached 19:15.10

1 #5071 Marquez, Brandon MSR Unattached 15:15.20

The last time we saw Brandon race in person was early in the season on a slow Wickham Park Jamboree course where he went 15:48. A few weeks later on the same day as Pre-State, he set the course record at Holloway Park in a solo effort going 15:46.80.  If you consider Brandon didn't run at FSU but Chas Cook, the Boy's Elite winner went 15:44 for 9th and yesterday ran 16:02, it's easy to see Brandon is in fabulous shape.

Brandon eluded to his shape post-race "It's pretty much the halfway point between the start of the season and Foot Locker South, so I definitely wanted to go out there and see where I'm at and give it a good effort, and I'm happy with the result. It was a warm Central Florida evening, but being able to run that well alone gives me a great boost of confidence going into a month of very important training leading up to to the big meets.

I don't know where my next meet is, but I'm sure to race a couple more times before McAlpine to make sure I've left no stone unturned in preparing for Foot Locker."

It's also quite amazing to think that Camille Napier who we first noticed this past track season is this quick at such a young age. She's only a 6th grader and would be a Top 50 girl in the State of Florida.

Ft. Walton Beach's Madeline "Maddie" Fulmer wins the Girls Elite "Maleficent" Division Race in 19:15.00

Maleficent Division (Elite HS Varsity Girls) Ft Walton Beach senior Madeline Fulmer goes out fast and holds on to win in the 2nd fastest Girls 5K of the meet in 19:15.00. FWB places 3 in the top 10, finshes 3rd overall.

Madeline's race plan was simple; go out fast, keep the lead until the finish, stay focused and get 1 point for her team. Oh, and she also wanted to get that medal for winning as well. Mission accomplished.

Trinity Prep is Florida's best boy's team and should make a dent in the DyeStat Southeast Rankings soon after 3 weeks of impressive wins at FLRunners, FSU and Disney. Considering they won Disney without their #4 from FSU, 8th grader Kayamo Galloway who won the Middle School Boy's 3k in 9:33, TP is hitting on all cylinders right now with front runners, a close spread (45 seconds), and depth. Coach Vinal's approach to Disney was to keep it low key as they head into the latter portions of the season and ultimately a trip to State and then NXN Southeast. With only 4 seniors on the team, Trinity Prep should be very good once again next year. (POST RACE INTERVIEW LINK)
