Hey Everyone!

Sorry that is has been so long since my first blog but I have been a bit tangled in a mix of school, work, and of course running.

With that being said, so many memorable moments of the season have passed and there are many things to catch up on.

My season kick started by picking up my first two cross country wins (besides Foot Locker Freshman 2012) at the Fort Myers Optimist Invitational and Northport Invitational.

Fort Myers Optimist Invitational

I always love going to these meets because of how well both meets are run and the nearby friendly South Florida Competition. It was definitely a different feeling coming out on top and I hope I am able to pick up a couple more wins as the season edges closer to the state series.

North Port Invitational

After Northport, my team and I traveled over to Stuart, Florida, to face off against some bigger competition in the Fleet Feet invitational.

I finished 4th overall there behind my teammate Zack Summerall, Ryan Rodriguez, and the first place winner Carlin Berryhill.   It was great to race against these guys on a fun course that ended up being a 3 mile mud bath by race time.

Over the past weekend my teammates and I competed at the FSU Invitational where we had
a great experience and the opportunity to compete with the best of the best in the state.

Most of us were fortunate to run great races and come home with smiles on our faces. My teammate Zack was a little less fortunate when his shoe came loose about 800 meters into the race where he was never able to fully recover. It was amazing (and a bit intimidating) to compete with some of the state’s top runners and I am very satisfied with my 5th place finish. It was a great confidence boost to place top 10 at this prestigious meet.

As the season progresses, it is becoming more and more apparent that everyone is in for a treat when it is finally time for the state finals.   There are many talented runners in the state right now and it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out. I would like to wish all runners reading this good luck toward the rest of their season and I hope everyone is training hard and staying healthy.
