About Event

Cross Country Summer School of Conditioning is the only running camp in Oregon dedicated to supplementary training for distance runners. Campers will spend 4 mornings learning drills, exercises and routines specific to muscular strength, core development and flexibility for distance running.

All activities will be performed using basic equipment found at sporting goods stores or available in many high school track programs. 

Each athlete will receive individual instruction, a camp t-shirt, and a DVD of all exercises and routines to review at home and with teammates during the season.  Inspirational presentations from professional distance runners will be a highlight of the camp.

Staff
Travis Floeck ran for South Umpqua High School and was the 2000 3A State Champion and school record holder in the 800m. Travis was a two-time national qualifier in the 800m for the  Southern Oregon University Raiders. He was also a member of the 2005 SOU men's Track and Field team that finished sixth at the NAIA National Championships. Travis was  hired to guide the  Lane Community College cross country and distance program for the 2008 & 2009 campaigns.  This past track season, Travis coached eight distance All-American athletes.  The 2008 Cross Country season was highlighted when both men and women swept the Southern Region Championships and Travis was voted Southern Region Coach of The Year. Three more of Travis' athletes garnered All-American honors this fall.  He has had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best coaches in the country through his work at Steens Mountain Running Camp (for the last nine summers) and for Nike's running department (for two cross-country seasons driving the Nike XC Truck). He carries a USATF Level I certification.

 Mike Blackmore ran in the Washington State 3A Track and Field Championships 4 years, including a State Meet Record 3200m performance his senior year. He also set a State Meet course record at Evergreen High School his senior year in Cross Country. Mike continued his running at the University of Oregon, earning All-American status in cross-country and at 5000m. He was a Pac-10 runner-up in cross country and at 1500m and was a member of the 1984 NCAA  Track and Field Championship Team. Mike was a member of 3 USA teams, including a 5000m silver medal performance at the 1987 World University Games in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. He also ran 5 sub-four minute miles during his racing career.  He currently coaches cross country and track at Churchill High School and owns a massage therapy business in Eugene, specializing and sports massage and injury management.
